I'm on Windows 7 and when I use a magnet link with utorrent it sometimes gets stuck at downloading mets-data, if that happens I just restart utorrent, and it usually connects right away with peers on the restart and begins the download. I never have this issue with an actual torrent, just a magnet link. I occasionally stil get this Downloading metadata and sometimes, after like 1 Minute, it starts downloading and other times it just stucks at this. I think it happens with older torrents more often that with newer ones. Twice or three times I tried Get Torrent File like suggested by SectorVector and it worked but not sure if it happened by chance.
